About Crossbar Holders
A crossbar holder is a stainless-steel fitting that secures a horizontal rod or bar to a railing post, glass panel or flat surface, forming the connection between the infill rod and the structure it passes through.
At intermediate posts the rod runs through the holder; at end posts it terminates in a blind hole (left or right hand); and on glass panels a dedicated glass-mount holder clamps the rod to the panel face.
Strofix supplies 12 crossbar holder products in several configurations: through-hole holders for Ø42.4 mm round pipe and flat-sided posts, left and right blind-hole bar holders for Ø42.4 mm and flat posts, connecting holders for intermediate positions, a vertical holder, and a glass-mount holder — in AISI 304 or AISI 316 stainless steel with satin or polished finishes, with holder heights of 20, 22 and 23 mm for Ø10 and Ø12 mm rod diameters.
The correct holder depends on post profile, rod diameter, position in the railing run and whether the rod terminates or passes through.
How to choose a crossbar holder
1. Position in the railing run: through, end (blind hole) or connecting
Through-hole crossbar holders are used at intermediate posts where the rod passes straight through.
Left and right blind-hole bar holders are used at end posts where the rod terminates — left or right refers to the side of the railing run the end post is on when viewed from the front.
Connecting holders join two rod sections at an intermediate post.
The vertical holder orients the rod perpendicular to the standard horizontal plane.
Identify each position along the railing layout before ordering.
2. Post profile: Ø42.4 mm round or flat
Each holder type is available in a variant profiled for Ø42.4 mm round pipe posts and a variant with a flat back for flat-sided posts or wall mounting.
The holder base must match the surface it attaches to.
3. Rod diameter (Ø10 or Ø12 mm)
The hole in the holder must match the diameter of the solid bar used as the horizontal infill.
Strofix crossbar holders accept Ø10 mm rods as standard; the crossbar holder on glass accepts Ø16 mm.
Check the rod diameter specified for the project and select the holder with the matching bore size.
4. Holder height (20 / 22 / 23 mm)
Holder height is the vertical dimension of the holder body as it sits on the post.
Heights of 20, 22 and 23 mm are available across the range.
The height determines the visual proportion of the holder relative to the post and the spacing between adjacent rod lines.
Match the holder height consistently across the full railing run.
5. Finish and steel grade
Satin is the standard finish across 12 products, with polished variants available on six products.
AISI 304 is the standard grade; AISI 316 is available on one Ø42.4 mm crossbar holder variant for coastal and high-humidity environments.
