About square posts with crossbars

A square crossbar post is a 40x40 mm section with Ø12 mm rod holders already fitted – a complete unit that needs only rods and a handrail ordered separately.

This is the widest complete crossbar post series in the Strofix range: it includes end, through, corner and stair versions.

The post is always square, but the handrail can be square 40x40 mm or round Ø42.4 mm – a separate choice, and the one that splits this series into two subsections.

All versions are available in AISI 304 and AISI 316, satin finish.

The choice depends on where the post sits in the run, the handrail shape and the steel grade.

How to choose a square post with crossbars

1. End, through or corner

On an end post the rods stop – left and right versions, depending on which side the run continues.

On a through post the rods pass through; that is the mid-run post. On a corner post two runs meet at an angle.

Walk the line and count all three types separately – that is the most common mistake in this system.

2. Handrail shape: square or round

The post top is prepared for a specific handrail and cannot be changed after ordering.

A square handrail continues the post line; a round one is easier on the hand and the more common choice for stairs.

3. Flat floor or stairs

On the stair version the holders are set for the pitch so the rods run parallel to the flight.

A project with a stair and a landing needs both types.

4. What to order separately

Ø12 mm rods, handrail sections, rod end caps and base fixings are not included.

If the line turns you will also need rod elbows – they are in the elbow section, separate from the tube elbows.
