About crossbar holders for flat surfaces

A crossbar holder is a small stainless steel component that carries a horizontal Ø12 mm rod at a set distance from a railing post or wall.

These holders are made for a flat mounting face – the side of a square post, a wall or a plate. Round Ø42.4 mm tube has its own holder series with a concave base.

The Strofix range has six holder types: through, left and right end holder, front, two-rod connecting and adjustable front.

There is also a holder for 4 mm glass, which lets a thin glass panel replace the rod between posts.

The choice depends on where the holder sits in the run, whether the rod ends there or passes through, and the finish.

How to choose a crossbar holder for a flat surface

1. Holder type: through, end, front or connecting

The through holder lets the rod pass through – used at intermediate posts where the crossbar continues on both sides.

Left and right end holders close the rod end at the end of a run. The front holder carries the rod on the face of the post rather than on its side.

The two-rod connecting holder joins two rods at a single point where the crossbar continues into the next bay.

2. Rod diameter: Ø12 mm

Every holder in this series takes a Ø12 mm rod – the standard crossbar size in the Strofix range.

Make sure rods, end caps and elbows share one diameter; Ø10 mm parts will not seat tightly in these holders.

3. Adjustable or fixed

Fixed holders carry the rod at 90° to the post. They suit straight, horizontal runs.

The adjustable front holder lets the angle change, which makes it the choice for stair balustrades where the crossbar follows the flight.

4. Finish: satin or polished

Satin is matt and consistent with the rest of the crossbar hardware; it is also the wider part of the range.

The polished version is a mirror finish and suits assemblies where the post and handrail are polished too.
