About posts for a 40x40 mm handrail

This section splits the square point-fixing posts by handrail shape: these are the ones whose top is prepared for a square 40x40 mm handrail.

The post itself is the same as in the adjacent section – only the handrail connection differs. So make this choice by the handrail you will use, not by the post.

A square post with a square handrail gives one continuous, straight line with no change of shape at the top.

In the range these are for flat floors, in AISI 304 and AISI 316, satin finish.

If the handrail is not yet decided, decide it first – it governs both this choice and every handrail element.

How to choose

1. Square or round handrail

The square handrail continues the post geometry and is visually quieter.

The round Ø42.4 mm handrail is easier to grip with the whole hand. Where the handrail is a real support rail – on stairs or in a public building – round is more practical.

2. Point fixings mean holes in the glass

The holes must be ordered at the glass factory. Toughened glass cannot be drilled afterwards.

That means post spacing and hole positions have to be known before the glass is ordered.

3. Steel grade

AISI 304 suits interiors and normal outdoor exposure; AISI 316 suits the coast, pools and places with winter salt.

Both grades are in the range, so grade can be chosen independently of handrail shape.

4. What to order separately

Glass, handrail sections, handrail elements and base fixings are not included.

Choose handrail elements from the square series – round elements do not fit a 40x40 mm handrail.
