A railing post end cap closes the top of the post – both to keep water out of the section and to give the handrail rod a precise, supported exit.

That second function is what separates a post end cap from an ordinary end cap: most of these have a hole for the handrail support rod.

The Strofix range covers weld-in 4 mm caps with a Ø8, Ø12 or Ø16 mm hole and without a hole, plus flat 2 mm caps including one with an M8 thread.

The range covers both post profiles – 40x40 mm square section and Ø42.4 mm round tube.

The choice depends on post profile, what has to pass through the top, and whether the cap will be welded.

How to choose a railing post end cap

1. Post profile: 40x40 mm or Ø42.4 mm

The cap shape is matched to the section. Square and round versions are not interchangeable.

If the post is 40x40 mm but the handrail is Ø42.4 mm, choose the cap by the post, not by the handrail.

2. Hole: Ø8, Ø12, Ø16 mm or none

The hole is for the handrail support rod running from the post top to the handrail.

Ø8 mm suits an M8 bolt, Ø12 mm the standard Ø12 mm rod, and Ø16 mm thicker and adjustable rods. If the handrail is fixed some other way, choose the version without a hole.

3. Weld-in or flat surface cap

The weld-in 4 mm cap is welded into the post end and disappears once the seam is dressed. These are supplied raw, as the finish is applied after welding.

The flat 2 mm cap sits on a finished end – faster on site and with a factory finish.

4. M8 thread

The flat cap with an M8 thread lets the handrail support bolt straight to the post end without extra drilling.

It is the easiest solution when the handrail is assembled on site and the posts are already up.
