About Spigot Systems
A spigot system is a base-mounted glass clamp that grips a glass panel along its bottom or side edge, anchoring the panel directly to a floor, deck or fascia without the need for vertical posts.
The result is a frameless glass balustrade where the glass itself forms the barrier and no intermediate posts interrupt the sightline.
Each spigot clamp consists of a solid base that bolts to the substrate and a clamping channel that holds the glass securely with internal pressure.
Strofix supplies base glass clamps in four configurations: bottom-mount round (Ø48 mm), bottom-mount square (50×50 mm), side-mount square (40×40 mm) and side-mount round (Ø42.4 mm) — all in AISI 304 stainless steel, with satin or matte black finishes.
The correct spigot depends on mounting orientation (bottom or side), base profile (round or square) and the desired finish.
How to choose a spigot system
1. Mounting orientation: bottom or side
Bottom-mount spigots are fixed to the top surface of a floor slab, deck or beam, with the glass panel rising vertically from the base.
Side-mount spigots are fixed to the vertical face of a fascia, edge beam or wall, with the glass extending upward alongside the structure.
Choose based on where the fixing surface is located relative to the glass.
2. Base profile: round or square
Each mounting orientation is available in a round and a square base profile.
Round bottom-mount (Ø48 mm) and round side-mount (Ø42.4 mm) suit projects where a cylindrical aesthetic is preferred.
Square bottom-mount (50×50 mm) and square side-mount (40×40 mm) match angular architectural details and squared railing components.
The choice is aesthetic — both profiles are structurally equivalent.
3. Finish: satin or matte black
The bottom-mount round variant is available in matte black, while the remaining three variants are supplied in satin-finish stainless steel.
Matte black suits dark-framed contemporary designs.
Satin blends with standard stainless-steel railing components and conceals fingerprints.
Finish does not affect clamping performance.
