Square 40x40 mm stainless steel handrail with a slot that seats directly on the top edge of a glass panel. Glass thickness 8–21.52 mm, lengths 2500–5000 mm, satin finish in AISI 304 or AISI 316. Filter by glass thickness and steel grade.
A square slot handrail is a 40x40 mm section with a groove on its underside that seats directly on the top edge of a glass panel.
Unlike the round Ø42.4 mm handrail, the square one gives straight lines and sharp arrises – more minimal, and a better match for modern façade and interior geometry.
A gasket holds the glass in the slot, so one profile covers glass thicknesses from 8 to 21.52 mm.
Strofix supplies it in satin, in AISI 304 or AISI 316, in lengths from 2500 to 5000 mm.
The choice depends on glass thickness, run length, steel grade and whether you want a square or round line.
The square 40x40 mm profile is visually quieter and matches square posts and profiles.
The round Ø42.4 mm handrail is easier to grip with the whole hand. If the handrail is a real support rail rather than just a glass capping, consider the round one.
There is one slot, but several gaskets – the gasket adapts the slot to your specific glass.
Order the gasket together with the handrail and to your own glass thickness, or the handrail will rattle on the glass.
A longer handrail means fewer joints in the visible line.
For longer runs use the handrail connector for 40x40 mm profile – it joins two handrails in line without a step.
AISI 304 suits interiors and normal outdoor exposure.
AISI 316 resists chlorides better and suits coastal sites, pools and balconies where de-icing salt is used.
A complete run needs a gasket matched to the glass, end caps for 40x40 mm profile and – where the line turns – a horizontal or vertical handrail elbow.
For a wall connection there is a separate axial handrail fastening for 40x40 mm profile.
