The Strofix base glass clamp (bottom square) is an AISI 304 stainless-steel floor-mounted spigot with a 50 × 50 mm square profile, designed to hold 12–17.52 mm glass panels vertically in frameless glass railing and balustrade systems. Overall height is 182 mm. Supplied in satin finish.
The base glass clamp is anchored to the floor or structural slab and grips the glass panel from below, holding it in a vertical position without the need for railing posts. The 12–17.52 mm glass thickness range covers standard toughened glass and common laminated safety glass buildups used in glass balustrade applications. The 50 × 50 mm square body provides a clean, angular profile at the base of the glass panel, complementing contemporary architectural designs with straight lines and geometric detailing. AISI 304 stainless steel is suitable for standard interior and exterior installations.
This is the bottom-mount, square-profile variant. The Strofix Spigot System range also includes a bottom-mount round variant (Ø48 mm) and side-mount variants for different mounting positions and profile preferences.
Use cases:
- Frameless glass balustrades on balconies, terraces, and rooftop decks
- Floor-mounted glass railing systems for residential and commercial buildings
- Modern architectural projects requiring square-profile base fittings
- Staircase glass balustrades without metal post supports
- Mezzanine and gallery edge protection with frameless glass panels
- Shopfront and reception area glass partitions with visible base clamps
FAQ:
What glass thickness does this clamp accept?
The base glass clamp accepts glass panels from 12 to 17.52 mm thick. This range covers standard toughened glass and common laminated safety glass buildups used in glass balustrade systems.
What is the body profile size?
The clamp has a 50 × 50 mm square body profile. This is the "square" variant in the Strofix Spigot System range. A round variant (Ø48 mm) is also available for bottom-mount installations.
What is the overall height of the clamp?
The clamp has an overall height of 182 mm (H = 182 mm), the same as the bottom-mount round variant. This is the total vertical dimension from the mounting surface to the top of the clamp body.
How is this clamp mounted?
The base glass clamp is mounted to the floor or structural slab from below — hence "bottom" in the product name. The clamp is anchored to the substrate and the glass panel is inserted into the clamp channel and secured.
How does this differ from the bottom-round variant?
Both the bottom-square and bottom-round base glass clamps have the same 182 mm height and accept the same 12–17.52 mm glass range. The difference is the body profile: this product has a 50 × 50 mm square profile, while the round variant has a Ø48 mm cylindrical profile. The round variant is also available in matte and silver colour options, whereas this square variant is supplied in satin finish only.
What steel grade and finish is used?
The clamp is manufactured from AISI 304 stainless steel with a satin finish. AISI 304 is suitable for standard interior and exterior installations.
About Spigot Systems
A spigot system is a base-mounted glass clamp that grips a glass panel along its bottom or side edge, anchoring the panel directly to a floor, deck or fascia without the need for vertical posts.
The result is a frameless glass balustrade where the glass itself forms the barrier and no intermediate posts interrupt the sightline.
Each spigot clamp consists of a solid base that bolts to the substrate and a clamping channel that holds the glass securely with internal pressure.
Strofix supplies base glass clamps in four configurations: bottom-mount round (Ø48 mm), bottom-mount square (50×50 mm), side-mount square (40×40 mm) and side-mount round (Ø42.4 mm) — all in AISI 304 stainless steel, with satin or matte black finishes.
The correct spigot depends on mounting orientation (bottom or side), base profile (round or square) and the desired finish.
