About Glass Clamps for Flat Surfaces

A glass clamp for a flat surface is a stainless-steel bracket that grips a glass panel along its edge without requiring a drilled hole, fixing the panel to a wall, post or flat-sided structure by clamping pressure alone.

Two halves tighten around the glass with rubber inserts that cushion the contact and accommodate different panel thicknesses.

Strofix supplies flat-mount glass clamps in ten body variants — from a compact 30×30 mm mini clamp to larger bodies with lengths up to 67 mm, heights up to 45 mm and glass-edge overhangs up to 18 mm — in AISI 304 or AISI 316 stainless steel with satin or polished finishes.

Rubber inserts are available for 4, 6 and 8 mm glass, or the clamps can be ordered without rubbers for custom applications.

The correct clamp depends on body size, glass thickness, steel grade and the required finish.

How to choose a glass clamp for flat surfaces

1. Body size and profile

Strofix offers ten body variants that differ in length (L), height (H) and glass-edge overhang (a).

Compact clamps such as the 30×30 mm mini variant are suited to lightweight partitions and decorative panels where the clamp should be as inconspicuous as possible.

Longer bodies (L-45, L-52, L-67) provide a larger clamping area for heavier or wider panels.

Taller bodies (H-40, H-45) and variants with wider overhang (a-16, a-18) grip more of the glass edge and are typically used on balustrades and railings where hold strength is critical.

2. Glass thickness (4 / 6 / 8 mm)

Each clamp is supplied with interchangeable rubber inserts sized for a specific glass thickness — 4, 6 or 8 mm.

The rubbers ensure a snug fit and even pressure distribution.

Clamps can also be ordered without rubbers if a non-standard glass thickness or a custom rubber is required.

Replacement rubbers are available separately in the Rubbers for glass clamps category.

3. Steel grade: AISI 304 or AISI 316

AISI 304 is the standard grade for interior and typical exterior installations.

AISI 316 is available on selected variants and should be specified for coastal, pool and high-humidity environments where higher chloride resistance is needed.

4. Surface finish: satin or polished

Satin is the default finish — it reduces visible fingerprints and blends with most railing and post systems.

Polished stainless steel has a brighter, mirror-like appearance for contemporary interiors.

Finish is an aesthetic choice and does not affect clamping performance.

5. Mounting surface compatibility

All clamps in this category have a flat back designed for wall, floor or flat-sided post mounting.

If the glass panel is mounted on a round pipe (e.g. Ø42.4 mm), choose a clamp from the Glass clamp for pipe category instead.
