About Adjustable Glass Adaptors

An adjustable glass adaptor is a stainless-steel point fixing with a variable spacer height that allows the wall-to-glass offset to be fine-tuned during installation.

Unlike fixed-spacer adaptors, the adjustable design compensates for uneven substrates, insulation build-ups and alignment tolerances, reducing the need for shimming or rework on site.

Strofix supplies adjustable glass adaptors in three diameters — D35, D40 and D50 — in AISI 304 or AISI 316 stainless steel with a satin finish.

Spacer adjustment ranges span from 20–25 mm up to 52–58 mm, and selected variants feature a spherical head with an inner thread for additional angular flexibility.

Choosing between variants depends on the required offset range, glass-panel size and whether the environment calls for AISI 316 corrosion resistance.

How to choose an adjustable glass adaptor

1. Spacer adjustment range

Adjustable adaptors are defined by their offset range — the minimum and maximum distance between the glass and the mounting surface.

Strofix offers ranges from 20–25 mm for near-flush installations up to 52–58 mm for walls with thick insulation or cladding.

Measure the anticipated offset including all finish layers, then select the variant whose range covers that dimension with margin to spare.

2. Adaptor diameter (D35 / D40 / D50)

Diameter determines the visible footprint on the glass and the load contact area.

D35 suits lighter panels and residential partitions; D50 provides a wider contact area for larger or heavier glass panels in commercial balustrades and façades.

D40 is an intermediate option with a spherical head and inner thread.

3. Steel grade: AISI 304 or AISI 316

AISI 304 is the standard choice for interior and typical exterior use.

AISI 316 contains added molybdenum for higher chloride and salt-air resistance — specify it for coastal locations, pool enclosures and high-humidity environments.

Grade options are available on the D50 variants.

4. Head type: flat or spherical with inner thread

The D40 and D50 spherical variants feature a domed head with an inner thread, which allows angular correction when mounting on slightly uneven surfaces.

The D35 variant has a flat head.

Choose the spherical option where the substrate may not be perfectly plumb or where the glass sits at a slight angle to the wall.
