About Glass Adaptor Gaskets

A glass adaptor gasket is a rubber or silicone washer that sits between the metal adaptor body and the glass surface, preventing direct steel-to-glass contact.

It cushions the clamping force, compensates for minor surface irregularities and protects the glass edge around the drilled hole from chipping or stress cracking under load.

Strofix supplies glass adaptor gaskets in six sizes — D30, D40, 40×40, D50, D60 and D70 — in two materials: EPDM rubber and silicone.

Both flat gaskets and gaskets with an integrated flange are available; flanged variants provide additional coverage around the hole perimeter.

The correct gasket depends on the adaptor diameter, the required material and whether a flanged or flat profile is needed for the assembly.

How to choose a glass adaptor gasket

1. Adaptor diameter (D30 / D40 / 40×40 / D50 / D60 / D70)

The gasket must match the outer diameter of the glass adaptor it will be paired with.

Each gasket is sized to sit flush within the adaptor face — a mismatched diameter will not seal correctly against the glass.

Check the adaptor already specified or installed before ordering.

2. Material: EPDM or silicone

EPDM gaskets are available for D30, D40, D50, D60 and D70 adaptors.

EPDM offers good resistance to UV, ozone and weathering, making it suited to both interior and exterior installations.

Silicone gaskets are available for D30, D40, 40×40, D50 and D60 adaptors.

Silicone has a wider operating temperature range and remains flexible in extreme cold — choose it where temperature fluctuation is a concern.

3. Profile: flat or flanged

Flat gaskets are simple disc-shaped washers that sit between the adaptor face and the glass.

Flanged gaskets have an additional lip that wraps around the inside of the drilled hole, providing extra cushioning and sealing along the hole edge.

Flanged variants are available for D30 and D50 in both EPDM and silicone.

4. Inner diameter

Inner diameter determines the hole size the gasket is designed for, ranging from 6.2 mm up to 14.2 mm across the range.

Match the gasket inner diameter to the bolt or countersink hole in the glass to ensure a snug fit without obstructing the fixing.
