About D60 Glass Adaptors

A D60 glass adaptor is a Ø60 mm stainless-steel point fixing that mounts a glass panel to a wall, floor or post through a single drilled hole.

The 60 mm cover diameter provides a large contact area that distributes load across a wider surface than D30, D40 or D50 adaptors, making it suited to heavier glass panels, commercial façades, structural balustrades and large-format glazing.

Strofix supplies D60 glass adaptors in four variants: two flat-mount versions (one standard and one with a threaded sleeve), a spherical cover with inner thread, and a Ø42.4 mm tube-mount version — all in AISI 304 or AISI 316 stainless steel with a satin finish.

The flat-mount variants have a compact 8 mm spacer, the tube-mount variant has a 10 mm spacer, and the spherical inner-thread variant has a 22 mm spacer.

The correct D60 adaptor depends on mounting surface, fixing type, steel grade and the required spacer height.

How to choose a D60 glass adaptor

1. Mounting surface: flat or Ø42.4 mm tube

Three variants have a flat base for wall, floor or flat-sided post mounting.

One variant has a concave base profiled for Ø42.4 mm round pipe, suited to post-and-rail balustrade systems.

Match the base profile to the structure the glass will be fixed to.

2. Fixing type: standard, threaded sleeve or inner thread

The standard flat-mount variant uses a countersunk M10 × 45 mm screw through the glass.

The threaded-sleeve variant adds a sleeve bushing for additional thread engagement and a more robust connection.

The spherical inner-thread variant accepts a bolt from the glass side, providing removability and simplified installation where back-access is limited.

Choose based on structural requirements and site access.

3. Head profile: flat or spherical

The flat-cover variants produce a low-profile, disc-like appearance suited to modern, minimal railing systems.

The spherical variant has a domed cover that adds a three-dimensional accent.

Both profile types are structurally equivalent — the choice is purely aesthetic.

4. Steel grade: AISI 304 or AISI 316

AISI 304 is the standard grade for interior and typical exterior installations.

AISI 316 is available on the two flat-mount variants and should be specified for coastal, pool and high-humidity environments where higher chloride resistance is required.

The tube-mount and spherical inner-thread variants are supplied in AISI 304.
