About Covers
A cover is a stainless-steel decorative plate that fits around the base of a railing post where it meets the floor, deck or fascia, concealing the anchor bolt, base plate and raw fixing beneath a clean, finished disc or square.
It slides over the post tube before or after installation and sits flat against the mounting surface, giving the post base a professional appearance.
Strofix supplies base covers in seven variants — round covers in Ø85, Ø95 and Ø105 mm diameters for Ø42.4 and Ø48.3 mm round pipe posts, and square covers in 85×85, 90×90, 105×105 and 108×108 mm for flat-sided posts — in AISI 304 or AISI 316 stainless steel with satin or polished finishes and heights of 18 or 20 mm.
The correct cover depends on post shape and diameter, the desired cover size and the required steel grade.
How to choose a cover
1. Post shape: round or square
Round covers are designed for Ø42.4 and Ø48.3 mm round pipe posts.
Square covers are designed for flat-sided posts such as 40×40 mm square tubes.
The cover's central hole must match the post profile — a round cover will not fit a square post and vice versa.
2. Cover diameter / size
Round covers are available in Ø85, Ø95 and Ø105 mm.
Square covers are available in 85×85, 90×90, 105×105 and 108×108 mm.
A larger cover provides more overlap around the base plate, concealing a wider anchor area.
Choose the smallest cover that fully hides the base plate and fixing hardware beneath.
3. Post pipe diameter (Ø42.4 or Ø48.3 mm)
Round covers are sized for specific post tubes.
The Ø85 mm cover fits Ø42.4 mm posts; the Ø105 mm covers are available for both Ø42.4 and Ø48.3 mm posts.
Check the post tube diameter before ordering to ensure the cover slides over the tube without excessive play.
4. Steel grade: AISI 304 or AISI 316
AISI 304 is the standard grade for interior and typical exterior installations.
One Ø42.4 mm round cover variant is available in AISI 316 for coastal, pool and high-humidity environments where higher chloride resistance is required.
5. Finish: satin or polished
Satin is the standard finish across six of seven variants — it conceals fingerprints and matches most railing components.
A polished variant is available on the Ø95 mm round cover for a brighter, reflective appearance. Finish is an aesthetic choice and does not affect the cover's function.
