About End Caps

An end cap is a stainless-steel closure piece that plugs into or fits over the open end of a railing tube, post or solid bar, sealing it against moisture ingress and giving the termination a clean, finished appearance.

Without an end cap, the cut tube end is exposed — visually unfinished and prone to collecting water and debris inside the hollow section.

Strofix supplies 13 end cap products in three profile families: caps for Ø42.4 mm round pipe (available in flat, convex and ellipsoid shapes), caps for 40×40 mm flat square tube (flat profile), and caps for Ø10 and Ø12 mm solid crossbar rods.

All are in AISI 304 stainless steel with a satin finish, with AISI 316 and polished options available on selected variants.

The correct end cap depends on the tube or rod profile it will close, and the desired cap shape.

How to choose an end cap

1. Tube or rod profile: Ø42.4 mm round, 40×40 mm flat or solid bar

The end cap must match the profile it closes. Round-pipe caps fit Ø42.4 mm handrail and post tubes.

Square caps fit 40×40 mm flat-sided tubes.

Rod end caps fit Ø10 and Ø12 mm solid crossbar bars.

Check the tube or rod cross-section before ordering — a round cap will not fit a square tube and vice versa.

2. Cap shape: flat, convex or ellipsoid

Flat end caps sit flush with the tube end, producing a minimal, disc-like termination.

Convex end caps have a gentle dome that adds a subtle three-dimensional accent.

The ellipsoid end cap has a more pronounced domed profile for Ø42.4 mm tube.

The domed end cap (listed simply as "End cap") provides a full rounded closure.

Cap shape is a purely aesthetic choice and does not affect the seal or structural function.

3. Finish: satin or polished

Satin is the standard finish across 13 products — it matches most Strofix railing components and conceals fingerprints.

Polished variants are available on four products for a brighter, mirror-like appearance.

Match the end cap finish to the finish of the adjacent tube or post for a consistent look.

4. Steel grade: AISI 304 or AISI 316

All 13 end caps are available in AISI 304, suitable for interior and typical exterior installations.

AISI 316 is available on two variants for coastal, pool and high-humidity environments where higher chloride resistance is needed.
