The Strofix canopy tension rod is an AISI 304 stainless-steel rod with a Ø10 mm diameter (d10) for hanging glass canopy systems, available in 1000, 1200, 1500 or 1900 mm lengths – or cut to any length up to 1900 mm (see below). The rod features left/right thread ends – one end has a left-hand thread and the other has a right-hand thread – creating a turnbuckle mechanism that allows the tension to be adjusted by rotating the rod. Supplied in satin finish, or painted in anthracite (RAL 7016), brown (RAL 8019) or black (RAL 9005). Select the length and finish in the dropdowns at order time.
The tension rod is the structural link between the wall-mounted tension rod fixing (upper anchor on the facade) and the glass-mounted tension rod fixing (at the outer edge of the glass panel). The rod runs at an angle from the wall above down to the glass below, suspending the glass canopy panel. The left/right thread turnbuckle design allows the installer to fine-tune the rod tension after assembly – rotating the rod draws both end fittings closer together (tightening) or pushes them apart (loosening) without disassembling either connection. The four standard lengths (1000, 1200, 1500 and 1900 mm) accommodate different wall heights and canopy projection distances. AISI 304 stainless steel is suitable for standard sheltered installations.
This product is one component of the Strofix hanging glass canopy system.

Four standard lengths: 1000, 1200, 1500 and 1900 mm – select in the dropdown at order time. Any other length up to 1900 mm is available cut to size (see “Canopy tension rod Ø10, cut to length”). Choose based on the distance between the wall anchor point and the glass panel fixing point.
One end of the rod has a left-hand (reverse) thread and the other has a standard right-hand thread. When the rod is rotated, both ends screw in or out simultaneously – this is a turnbuckle mechanism that allows the rod tension to be adjusted without disconnecting either end fitting.
The rod is Ø10 mm (d10).
The upper end connects to the wall-mounted tension rod fixing (SKU SJ50WT) on the building facade. The lower end connects to the glass-mounted tension rod fixing (SKU SJ50GT) at the outer edge of the glass canopy panel.
AISI 304 stainless steel with a satin finish; also available painted in anthracite (RAL 7016), brown (RAL 8019) or black (RAL 9005).
Yes – order the cut-to-length version (“Canopy tension rod Ø10, cut to length”): we cut the rod from the next longer standard length and re-cut the right-hand thread on the cut end, so the turnbuckle adjustment is kept. Cutting a rod yourself is not recommended, as it removes the threaded end.
A hanging glass canopy is a wall-mounted entrance shelter in which stainless-steel tension rods suspend the glass panel from anchor points above, transferring load diagonally back to the building façade.
Strofix offers all the parts needed to build hanging canopy systems – the suspension rods, the fittings that hold the glass against the wall, the connectors that link the rods to both the glass and the wall, and complete system sets – all made in stainless steel with a satin finish.
The benefits go beyond appearance. The canopy shelters the doorway from rain and snow, keeping visitors dry as they arrive and protecting the door and threshold from constant weather exposure, which extends their working life. Because the glass is clear, daylight still reaches the entrance, so the area underneath does not feel dark or enclosed. The slim rod suspension leaves the façade largely unobstructed, which is especially valuable on buildings with detailed brickwork, stonework, or architectural features worth preserving.
The correct component selection depends on canopy span, glass weight, environment and wall structure.
Strofix designs and supplies stainless-steel fastening systems for architectural glass, including glass adaptors, railing components, handrails, and structural fixings. We also serve architects, installers, and building contractors on residential and commercial projects.
