The Strofix canopy fixing glass – tension rod is a stainless-steel fitting for hanging glass canopy systems that clamps the glass canopy panel at its outer edge and connects to the tension rod above. The fixing has a Ø50 mm rosette (d50) and accepts glass panels from 8 to 17.52 mm thick. Available in AISI 304 with a satin finish. Select the steel grade in the dropdown at order time.

The glass-tension rod fixing is positioned at the outer (free) edge of the glass canopy panel — the edge furthest from the building wall. It passes through a pre-drilled hole in the glass, clamping the panel between two rosettes, and has an upper connection point where the tension rod attaches. The tension rod runs upward from this fixing to the wall-mounted tension rod fixing (SKU SJ50WT) on the facade above, suspending the glass panel from the wall. This is the critical load-bearing connection point where the glass panel's weight is transferred to the tension rod. The 8–17.52 mm glass thickness range covers single tempered glass and laminated safety glass configurations. AISI 304 is suitable for sheltered installations.

This product is one component of the Strofix hanging glass canopy system.

Use cases:

  • Outer-edge glass clamping and tension rod connection in hanging canopy systems
  • Load transfer point where the glass panel's weight is carried by the tension rod
  • Glass canopy installations with single tempered glass (8–12 mm)
  • Glass canopy installations with laminated safety glass (up to 17.52 mm)

FAQ:

What does this fixing do?

The glass-tension rod fixing clamps the glass canopy panel at its outer edge and provides the connection point for the tension rod. The tension rod runs upward from this fixing to the wall anchor above, suspending the glass panel. This is the primary load-bearing connection point for the hanging canopy.

How does this differ from the glass-wall fixing?

The glass-wall fixing (SKU SJ50WG) clamps the glass and connects directly to the building wall — it is used at the wall-side edge of the glass. This glass-tension rod fixing clamps the glass and connects to the tension rod — it is used at the outer (free) edge. A typical hanging canopy uses both: glass-wall fixings at the wall side and glass-tension rod fixings at the outer edge.

What glass thicknesses are supported?

The fitting accepts glass panels from 8 to 17.52 mm thick, covering single tempered glass (8, 10, 12 mm) and laminated safety glass (e.g., 8.76, 10.76, 13.52, 17.52 mm).

What is the rosette diameter?

The rosette is Ø50 mm (d50). This is the circular plate visible on both faces of the glass panel.

Which steel grades are available?

AISI 304 currently available.

What other components are needed?

A complete hanging canopy also requires: the glass-wall fixing (wall-side glass connection), the wall-tension rod fixing (upper wall anchor), the tension rod (d10, connecting this fixing to the wall anchor), and the glass canopy panel itself. See the Strofix system set for a complete package.

About Hanging Glass Canopies

A hanging glass canopy is a wall-mounted entrance shelter in which stainless-steel tension rods suspend the glass panel from anchor points above, transferring load diagonally back to the building façade.

Strofix offers all the parts needed to build hanging canopy systems — the suspension rods, the fittings that hold the glass against the wall, the connectors that link the rods to both the glass and the wall, and complete system sets — all made in stainless steel with a satin finish.

The benefits go beyond appearance. The canopy shelters the doorway from rain and snow, keeping visitors dry as they arrive and protecting the door and threshold from constant weather exposure, which extends their working life. Because the glass is clear, daylight still reaches the entrance, so the area underneath does not feel dark or enclosed. The slim rod suspension leaves the façade largely unobstructed, which is especially valuable on buildings with detailed brickwork, stonework, or architectural features worth preserving.

The correct component selection depends on canopy span, glass weight, environment and wall structure.
