The Strofix steel anchor D16, L 220 mm, M8 is an S235 galvanized carbon steel anchor rod with a 220 mm length, M8 thread, and 16 mm body diameter (ø). The material is S235 structural steel with a galvanized coating.

The anchor rod is embedded into concrete — either chemically using anchor mortar or cast into wet concrete — with the threaded M8 end protruding to secure railing post base plates and other structural components. The M8 thread matches base plates with Ø8.5–9 mm bolt holes, such as the compact Ø80 mm round tube base plate. The 220 mm length provides a mid-range embedment depth between the 150 mm and 320 mm anchors in the Strofix range. S235 galvanized steel provides corrosion protection for standard interior and protected exterior applications where the anchor is embedded in concrete.

This SKU is a single fixed configuration — M8, Ø16, L = 220 mm, S235 galvanized only.

Use cases:

  • Medium-depth M8 concrete anchoring of railing post base plates
  • Base plates with Ø8.5–9 mm bolt holes requiring M8 anchor rods
  • Installations where the M10 anchor rod is too large for the base plate bolt pattern
  • Standard-depth balcony slab and floor slab anchoring with M8 thread
  • Chemical or cast-in anchoring for railing and balustrade structural fixings

FAQ:

What are the anchor rod dimensions?

The rod has an M8 thread, 16 mm body diameter (ø), and 220 mm total length (L).

How does this differ from the M10 L=220 mm anchor?

Both are S235 galvanized, L = 220 mm, Ø16 mm. The difference is the thread size: this product is M8; the other (SKU ED10220B) is M10. Choose based on the bolt hole size in the base plate — M8 for Ø8.5–9 mm holes, M10 for Ø11 mm holes.

What base plates use M8 bolt holes?

The Strofix Ø80 mm round tube base plate and the 80 × 80 / 105 × 105 mm square tube base plates have Ø8.5–9 mm holes designed for M8 bolts. The Ø100 mm plates typically have Ø11 mm holes for M10 bolts.

What material is used?

S235 structural steel with galvanized coating. For AISI 304 stainless-steel anchors, see the stainless-steel anchor (L = 330 mm) in the Strofix range.

How is the anchor installed?

The anchor rod can be chemically bonded into a pre-drilled hole using chemical anchor mortar (Essve ONE or ONE-ICE), or cast directly into wet concrete during the structural pour.

What is the body diameter?

The anchor body has a 16 mm diameter (ø = 16 mm).

About Anchors & Screws

Anchors and screws are the mechanical fasteners that secure glass adaptors, canopy brackets, railing posts, French balcony holders and other architectural hardware to the building substrate. They transfer structural loads from the visible hardware into concrete, masonry, insulated façades or timber frames.

Strofix supplies 16 products in this category: steel anchors in four lengths (150, 220, 320 and 400 mm) with rod diameters of Ø16 and Ø20 mm, an anchor sleeve (M10 × 80 mm), a spacer tube (L = 100 mm), individual screws (M10 × 45), cup nuts (M10), washers, double stainless-steel threads (M8, 60 and 100 mm), a wood screw (Ø10 × 180 mm), and pre-matched screw-and-fastener sets for 1, 2, 3 or 4 glass canopy brackets — configurable for masonry without insulation, masonry with insulation and timber-frame construction.

Materials are AISI 304 stainless steel and S235 structural steel.

The correct fastener depends on wall type, hardware product, bolt size and required embedment depth.
