The Strofix D16 sign adaptor is a stainless-steel standoff fixing used to mount thin sign panels of 3.6–4.6 mm thickness onto flat surfaces in interior and protected exterior signage. Supplied in AISI 304 with a fixed 15 mm spacer and a satin finish.

The Ø16 mm cover gives a discreet, low-profile appearance suited to small-format signs, while the 15 mm spacer holds the panel a short distance off the wall to create a clean shadow gap. The adaptor is dimensioned specifically for thin sheet materials in the 3.6–4.6 mm range, such as standard acrylic, thin glass, and aluminium composite panels. AISI 304 is the standard chromium-nickel stainless steel and provides reliable corrosion resistance for general indoor and protected outdoor signage.

The satin finish reduces visible fingerprints and micro-scratches compared to polished stainless steel, giving a clean, neutral look that suits corporate, retail, and architectural signage.

Use cases:

  • Office, lobby, and reception nameplates and logo signs
  • Retail storefront and shop window sign panels
  • Wayfinding and directory boards in public and commercial buildings
  • Restaurant and café menu boards mounted as standoffs
  • Acrylic and thin composite panels for galleries and exhibitions
  • Door numbers, room signs, and interior information plates

FAQ:

What panel thickness does this sign adaptor support?

The D16 sign adaptor is dimensioned for sign panels from 3.6 mm to 4.6 mm thick. This range covers common 4 mm acrylic, thin glass, and aluminium composite (dibond) sign sheets.

What stainless steel grade is used?

This SKU is supplied in AISI 304, the standard chromium-nickel stainless steel. AISI 304 provides reliable corrosion resistance for indoor signage and protected outdoor installations away from coastal or chloride-rich environments.

Is the spacer height adjustable?

No. The D16 sign adaptor ships with a fixed 15 mm spacer, which sets the standoff distance between the wall and the back of the panel. The spacer cannot be adjusted after installation.

What surfaces can the D16 sign adaptor be mounted on?

The D16 is designed for flat surfaces only (mounting surface type: Flat). It can be installed on plasterboard, concrete, brick, or wood walls using wall anchors selected separately to match the substrate.

How does the D16 differ from the smaller D12 sign adaptor?

The D16 has a Ø16 mm cover and a 15 mm spacer, compared to the Ø12 mm cover and 21.5 mm spacer of the D12. The D16 is dimensioned specifically for thin 3.6–4.6 mm panels, while the D12 supports panels up to 8 mm. Choose the D16 when working with thin acrylic or composite sheets and a shorter standoff is preferred.

Can I install it myself?

Yes. Installation needs only a drill with the correct bit for your wall material, a wall anchor matched to the substrate, and a pre-drilled sign panel. Glass and acrylic panels should be handled with care and tightened gently to avoid cracking around the hole.

About glass adaptors

A glass adaptor is a stainless-steel point fixing that attaches a glass panel to a supporting structure through a drilled hole in the glass. It transfers load from the panel to the substrate while keeping visible hardware to a minimum, leaving the glass as the main visual element in balustrades, façades, partitions, canopies, and shower enclosures.

Strofix supplies round glass adaptors from Ø12 mm up to Ø70 mm (including D30, D38, D40, D50, D60 and D70) plus square 38×38 and 40×40 versions, in AISI 201, AISI 304 and AISI 316 stainless steel, with satin, polished or painted finishes and a broad range of spacer heights. The right adaptor depends on glass thickness, wall-to-glass offset, environment and the type of supporting surface.

Glass adaptors are essential components used to securely connect glass panels to supporting structures while maintaining a clean, modern appearance. They are widely applied in glass railings, partitions, façades, canopies, and other architectural systems where both stability and design matter. By creating a reliable fixing point between glass and metal or wall-mounted surfaces, glass adaptors help distribute load evenly and ensure structural safety without compromising transparency.
