The Strofix D25 glass adaptor is a stainless-steel point fixing used to mount 6–14 mm glass panels to flat surfaces and crossbars in balustrades, partitions, and architectural glazing. Supplied in AISI 304 with a fixed 19 mm spacer and a satin finish.

Each adaptor secures the glass through a single Ø13 mm pre-drilled hole, and the Ø25 mm cover provides a clean, low-profile appearance while distributing load across the contact point. The 6–14 mm glass thickness range covers standard toughened glass and most common laminated glass buildups used in residential and light commercial railings. AISI 304 is the standard chromium-nickel stainless steel and provides reliable corrosion resistance for indoor installations and protected outdoor environments away from coastal conditions.

The satin finish reduces visible fingerprints and micro-scratches compared to polished stainless steel, making it a common choice for residential and commercial railings where a clean, understated look is required.

Use cases:

  • Residential balcony and staircase balustrades with toughened or laminated glass
  • Glass partition walls in offices, retail, and hospitality spaces
  • Glass infill panels held against crossbars and railing frames
  • Stair side glazing and mezzanine edge protection
  • Reception, counter, and divider glazing in commercial interiors
  • Light commercial façade and curtain wall infill panels

FAQ:

What glass thickness does this adaptor support?

The D25 glass adaptor is suitable for glass panels from 6 mm to 14 mm thick, covering standard toughened glass and most common laminated glass buildups used in balustrades and partitions.

What size hole must be drilled in the glass?

A minimum Ø13 mm hole is required in the glass panel. The hole must be pre-drilled by the glass supplier before tempering — toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled after heat treatment.

What stainless steel grade is used?

This SKU is supplied in AISI 304, the standard chromium-nickel stainless steel. AISI 304 provides reliable corrosion resistance for indoor installations and standard protected outdoor environments. For coastal, pool, or chloride-rich locations, a higher-grade stainless steel such as AISI 316 should be specified.

Is the spacer height adjustable?

No. The D25 adaptor ships with a fixed 19 mm spacer, which sets the standoff distance between the mounting surface and the glass panel. The spacer cannot be adjusted after installation.

What surfaces can the D25 adaptor be mounted on?

The D25 is designed for flat surfaces only (mounting surface type: Flat). It can be installed on walls, crossbars, and railing frames using fasteners selected separately to match the substrate. For curved surfaces, posts, or angled mounts, a different Strofix adaptor variant is required.

Can I install it myself?

Yes, with basic tools: a drill with the correct bit for your wall or crossbar material, a wall anchor or fastener matched to the substrate, and pre-drilled glass. Glass panels should be handled with two people and tightened gently to avoid cracking around the hole.

About glass adaptors

A glass adaptor is a stainless-steel point fixing that attaches a glass panel to a supporting structure through a drilled hole in the glass. It transfers load from the panel to the substrate while keeping visible hardware to a minimum, leaving the glass as the main visual element in balustrades, façades, partitions, canopies, and shower enclosures.

Strofix supplies round glass adaptors from Ø12 mm up to Ø70 mm (including D30, D38, D40, D50, D60 and D70) plus square 38×38 and 40×40 versions, in AISI 201, AISI 304 and AISI 316 stainless steel, with satin, polished or painted finishes and a broad range of spacer heights. The right adaptor depends on glass thickness, wall-to-glass offset, environment and the type of supporting surface.

Glass adaptors are essential components used to securely connect glass panels to supporting structures while maintaining a clean, modern appearance. They are widely applied in glass railings, partitions, façades, canopies, and other architectural systems where both stability and design matter. By creating a reliable fixing point between glass and metal or wall-mounted surfaces, glass adaptors help distribute load evenly and ensure structural safety without compromising transparency.
