The Strofix glass canopy on 4 supports 1150 is a complete undersupported canopy kit containing four S235 structural steel painted brackets and a transparent laminated safety glass panel (66.2 ESG, 13.52 mm), designed for wide entrances, shopfronts, and building frontages where a canopy tension rod cannot be attached above. Available in three bracket colours (black RAL 9005, anthracite RAL 7016, or brown RAL 8017) and three glass widths (2700, 3000, or 3200 mm), at a fixed canopy depth of 1150 mm.

The kit includes four painted S235 steel brackets with a wall plate width (B1) of 160 mm and an 1150 mm projection from the wall. Bracket dimensions L1 and L2 vary by glass width: 150 / 800 mm for the 2700 mm panel, 225 / 850 mm for 3000 mm, and 250 / 900 mm for 3200 mm. The glass is a transparent laminated safety panel in 66.2 ESG specification (13.52 mm thick), supplied at the selected width. Wall anchors are not included and must be matched to the substrate.

The painted brackets are available in three RAL colours to complement different facade finishes. Custom colours and sizes are available on request by contacting Strofix directly.

Use cases:

  • Wide entrance canopies where overhead tension-rod mounting is not possible
  • Shopfront awnings spanning full building facades
  • Loading bay and service-entrance shelters
  • Balcony canopies under existing overhangs
  • Covered walkways between buildings
  • Multi-window awnings over ground-floor storefronts

FAQ:

What is included in this kit?

Four S235 structural steel painted brackets and one transparent laminated safety glass panel (66.2 ESG, 13.52 mm thick) at the selected width. Wall anchors for the brackets are not included and must be ordered separately based on the wall material.

Which bracket colour should I choose?

The brackets are available in black (RAL 9005), anthracite (RAL 7016), and brown (RAL 8017). Choose the colour that matches or complements the building facade. For other RAL colours, contact Strofix for a custom order.

Which glass width should I choose?

The width (2700, 3000, or 3200 mm) sets the total canopy span along the wall. Measure the area you need to shelter and select the closest matching option. For canopies narrower than 2700 mm, a 2-support or 3-support kit at the same 1150 mm depth is sufficient. This is the largest standard S355 painted steel kit in the 1150 mm depth series; for spans exceeding 3200 mm, contact Strofix for a custom configuration.

When is this undersupported kit the right choice?

This design is particularly suitable where it is impossible to attach a canopy tension rod above the glass — for example, under balconies, overhangs, or where the wall above the door is structurally unsuitable for top fixings. The brackets support the glass entirely from underneath.

What type of wall can I mount it to?

The brackets mount to solid structural walls — concrete, brick, or equivalent — using wall anchors matched to the substrate. Wall anchors are not included. With four brackets distributing the load across a wide span, the wall must be structurally sound along its full length. For cavity walls, timber-frame walls, or masonry requiring chemical anchors, confirm the anchor specification with a structural engineer before installation.

Can I install it myself?

Bracket mounting requires standard masonry drilling tools and a torque wrench once the correct wall anchors are selected. Placing the glass panel onto four brackets at spans up to 3200 mm requires at least three people using glass suction lifters. Due to the size and weight of the glass at these widths, professional glazier involvement is strongly recommended.

About Under-Supported Glass Canopies

An under-supported glass canopy is a wall-mounted entrance shelter in which diagonal steel brackets carry the glass panel from below, transferring load from the canopy back to the building façade. The brackets project outward and downward from the wall, supporting the glass without any overhead tie-rods or hanging hardware, which makes this mounting style suited to entrances where a clean soffit and unobstructed overhead clearance are required.

Strofix supplies under-supported glass canopy brackets in S355 structural steel and stainless steel, with projection depths from 900 to 1300 mm, in black, anthracite and brown finishes. Complete canopy kits on 2, 3 or 4 supports are available with laminated toughened glass (66.2 or 88.2) in widths from 1400 to 3800 mm, and loose glass panels can be ordered separately with or without drilled holes.

Choosing the correct configuration depends on canopy width, projection depth, glass thickness and colour preference.
