Number of canopies Length, mm Depth Type of Glass
2 1600-1800 1100-1300 66.2 ESG
3 1900-3000 1100-1300 66.2 ESG
4 3100-3800 1100-1300 66.2 ESG

The Strofix 66.2 ESG canopy glass panel with holes is a transparent laminated toughened glass panel with polished edges and pre-drilled fixing holes, designed for use in under-supported glass canopy systems. Available in lengths from 1600 mm to 3800 mm and depths from 1100 mm to 1300 mm.

The "66.2" designation refers to the glass buildup: two panes of 6 mm ESG (toughened safety glass) bonded with a PVB interlayer, giving a total laminated thickness of approximately 12.76 mm. Laminated construction means that if the glass breaks under impact, the fragments remain bonded to the interlayer rather than falling — a critical safety requirement for overhead glazing. All edges are polished, and the fixing holes are pre-drilled to match Strofix under-supported canopy brackets.

The number of glass panels required depends on the selected length: 2 panels for 1600–1800 mm, 3 panels for 1900–3000 mm, and 4 panels for 3100–3800 mm.

Use cases:

  • Entrance canopies and door awnings for residential and commercial buildings
  • Shopfront and retail entrance rain shelters
  • Hotel, office, and public building entrance cover glazing
  • Covered walkways and passageways between buildings
  • Loading dock and service entrance weather protection
  • Balcony and terrace overhead glazing where under-supported brackets are used

FAQ:

What type of glass is this?

The panel is 66.2 ESG laminated toughened glass — two 6 mm tempered (ESG) glass panes bonded with a PVB interlayer, giving a total thickness of approximately 12.76 mm. Laminated glass holds fragments together if broken, which is essential for overhead applications where falling glass must be prevented.

Which length and depth should I choose?

Length refers to the total span of the canopy along the wall (e.g., the width of the entrance). Depth refers to how far the canopy projects from the wall. Lengths are selectable from 1600 mm to 3800 mm; depths from 1100 mm to 1300 mm. The number of glass panels in the set scales with the chosen length: 2 panels for 1600–1800 mm, 3 for 1900–3000 mm, and 4 for 3100–3800 mm.

Does this include the mounting brackets?

No. This SKU contains the glass panels only. The Strofix under-supported canopy brackets are sold separately and must be ordered to match the chosen glass depth (1100–1300 mm). The brackets carry the glass from below and are wall-mounted.

Are the holes pre-drilled?

Yes. The fixing holes are factory-drilled before tempering — toughened glass cannot be drilled or cut after heat treatment. The hole positions match the Strofix under-supported bracket layout.

Are the edges finished?

Yes. All edges are polished, giving a smooth, safe finish visible from below when the canopy is installed.

Can this glass be cut to a custom size on site?

No. Toughened (ESG) glass cannot be cut, drilled, or modified after heat treatment. All sizing and hole drilling must be specified at order time. If a non-standard size is needed, contact Strofix directly.

About Under-Supported Glass Canopies

An under-supported glass canopy is a wall-mounted entrance shelter in which diagonal steel brackets carry the glass panel from below, transferring load from the canopy back to the building façade. The brackets project outward and downward from the wall, supporting the glass without any overhead tie-rods or hanging hardware, which makes this mounting style suited to entrances where a clean soffit and unobstructed overhead clearance are required.

Strofix supplies under-supported glass canopy brackets in S355 structural steel and stainless steel, with projection depths from 900 to 1300 mm, in black, anthracite and brown finishes. Complete canopy kits on 2, 3 or 4 supports are available with laminated toughened glass (66.2 or 88.2) in widths from 1400 to 3800 mm, and loose glass panels can be ordered separately with or without drilled holes.

Choosing the correct configuration depends on canopy width, projection depth, glass thickness and colour preference.
