The Strofix convex end cap is a stainless-steel end cap with a gently curved outward profile, designed to close the open end of Ø42.4 × 2 mm railing tubes. The cap is 7 mm high (H). Available in AISI 304 or AISI 316 satin; a polished AISI 304 version is also offered. The cap is installed by driving it into the tube bore (elements for driving included).

The convex shape creates a subtle outward curve that rises slightly above the tube face, providing a finished appearance with minimal visual prominence. AISI 304 is suitable for standard installations; AISI 316 contains molybdenum and resists chlorides better – the choice near the sea, around outdoor pools or where de-icing salt is used.

The satin finish matches other Strofix satin-finished components. The polished finish provides a mirror-like appearance.

Use cases:

  • Subtly curved tube end closure on Ø42.4 mm handrail and railing post tubes
  • Railings near the sea or around outdoor pools – AISI 316 satin version (Ø42.4 mm)
  • High-gloss railing terminations with polished convex end caps (Ø42.4 mm)
  • Railing systems where a uniform 7 mm cap height is wanted on all Ø42.4 mm tube ends
  • Handrail end finishing with a gentle convex profile in satin, polish, or marine-grade steel

FAQ:

What tube sizes does this end cap fit?

It fits Ø42.4 × 2 mm round tube.

What is the cap height?

The cap is 7 mm high (H = 7 mm). The other convex end cap in the range is 6 mm high and has an M8 thread.

Which finish and grade combinations are available?

Three versions are available: AISI 304 satin, AISI 316 satin and AISI 304 polished.

When should I choose AISI 316?

AISI 316 contains molybdenum for higher resistance to chlorides and salt air. Choose AISI 316 near the sea, around outdoor pools or where de-icing salt is used.

How is this cap installed?

The cap is installed by driving (pressing or tapping) it into the tube bore. This is a press-fit attachment – no adhesive or screws are used.

How does this differ from the other convex end caps?

Both Strofix convex end caps fit Ø42.4 × 2 mm tube. This one is 7 mm high and is offered in AISI 304, AISI 316 and polished; the other is 6 mm high, has an M8 thread and comes in satin or polished AISI 304. Choose by the height and the finish or grade you need.

About End Caps

An end cap closes the open end of a railing tube, post or crossbar rod, keeping water and dirt out and giving the end a clean, finished look.

Strofix supplies 31 end caps in three families: for Ø42.4 mm tube (flat, convex, ellipsoid, 90° elbow and weld-in caps), for 40 × 40 mm profile (flat and weld-in caps) and for Ø10 and Ø12 mm crossbar rods (15–30 mm high, in flat, ball and droplet shapes).

Most are AISI 304 satin; polished versions, raw weld-in caps and AISI 316 on selected caps complete the range. The correct end cap depends on the profile it closes, the shape and whether it is fitted or welded.
