The Strofix flat-end cap is an AISI 304 stainless-steel ultra-low-profile press-fit cap designed to close the open end of the Ø42.4 × 2 mm railing tube. The cap is 2 mm high. Available in satin or polished finish. The cap is installed by driving it into the tube bore (elements for driving included).

The press-fit flat-end cap is driven into the open end of the tube, creating an almost flush closure with an extremely low profile. The 2 mm height means the cap sits nearly level with the tube face, making it virtually invisible once installed. This differs from adhesive-fixed flat-end caps and domed end caps, which protrude visibly from the tube end. It fits the standard Strofix Ø42.4 × 2 mm railing pipe. AISI 304 stainless steel is suitable for standard interior and exterior installations.

The satin finish matches other Strofix satin-finished components. The polished finish (Ø42.4 × 2 only) provides a mirror-like appearance.

Use cases:

  • Ultra-flush closure of Ø42.4 mm handrail and railing post tube ends
  • Virtually invisible end finishing on railing tubes where a protruding cap is not desired
  • Press-fit tube end closure for Ø42.4 × 2 mm railing pipes
  • Minimalist railing installations where end caps should not be visually apparent
  • Sealing cut tube ends against moisture and debris with a flush-mounted cap

FAQ:

What tube sizes does this flat-end cap fit?

It fits the Ø42.4 × 2 mm railing tube.

What is the cap height?

The cap is 2 mm high (H = 2 mm). These are the lowest-profile end caps in the Strofix range – the cap sits nearly flush with the tube face.

How is this cap installed?

The cap is installed by driving (pressing or tapping) it into the tube bore. This is a press-fit attachment – no adhesive or screws are used. Elements for driving are included.

How does this differ from adhesive flat-end caps?

Adhesive flat-end caps are glued in place and have a taller profile (e.g., H = 5 mm for the 40 × 40 mm caps). This press-fit cap is driven into the tube bore and sits at just 2 mm, creating a nearly invisible closure. Choose the press-fit cap when an ultra-flush profile is required.

Which finish options are available?

The cap is available in satin or polished finish.

What steel grade is used?

The flat-end cap is manufactured from AISI 304 stainless steel. AISI 304 is suitable for standard interior and exterior installations.

About End Caps

An end cap closes the open end of a railing tube, post or crossbar rod, keeping water and dirt out and giving the end a clean, finished look.

Strofix supplies 31 end caps in three families: for Ø42.4 mm tube (flat, convex, ellipsoid, 90° elbow and weld-in caps), for 40 × 40 mm profile (flat and weld-in caps) and for Ø10 and Ø12 mm crossbar rods (15–30 mm high, in flat, ball and droplet shapes).

Most are AISI 304 satin; polished versions, raw weld-in caps and AISI 316 on selected caps complete the range. The correct end cap depends on the profile it closes, the shape and whether it is fitted or welded.
