The Strofix stainless-steel railing terminal is an AISI 304 end-fitting designed for flat mounting surfaces, used to terminate and tension wire ropes or bars at the end posts of railing and balustrade infill systems. The terminal accepts infill diameters from 6 to 12 mm (d = 6–12 mm) and has an overall length of 100 mm. Supplied in satin finish with screwing elements included.

The railing terminal is mounted at each end of a wire rope or bar run, providing the fixed end point where the infill is secured and tensioned. The flat base sits flush against rectangular posts, plates, or wall surfaces. The 6–12 mm diameter range covers both Strofix wire ropes (Ø4–6 mm) and solid round bars (Ø10, Ø12 mm), making this a versatile terminal for different infill types within the same railing system. AISI 304 stainless steel is suitable for standard interior and exterior installations.

The satin finish provides a uniform appearance that matches other Strofix railing and wire rope system components.

Use cases:

  • Wire rope end termination on balcony, terrace, and staircase railing systems
  • Bar infill end termination on railing posts with flat mounting surfaces
  • Flat-surface railing systems combining wire rope and bar infill
  • Commercial and residential balustrade infill termination points
  • Retrofit wire rope or bar termination on existing flat-profile railing posts

FAQ:

What infill diameters does this terminal accept?

The terminal accepts infill diameters from 6 to 12 mm (d = 6–12 mm). This covers Strofix wire ropes (Ø4–6 mm) as well as Strofix solid round bars (Ø10 and Ø12 mm), making it suitable for both wire rope and bar infill railing systems.

What is the overall length of the terminal?

The terminal has an overall length of 100 mm (L = 100 mm).

What does "flat" mean?

The terminal has a flat base designed for mounting on flat surfaces such as rectangular posts, plates, or wall brackets. It is not designed for curved mounting on round post tubes.

How does this terminal work with wire rope?

Two railing terminals are required per wire rope — one at each end of the run. The wire rope is threaded through intermediate rope holders along the railing and secured at each end by the terminals. The terminal provides the fixed end point and tensioning mechanism.

Are screwing elements included?

Yes. Screwing elements are included for securing the terminal to the flat mounting surface.

What steel grade and finish is used?

The terminal is manufactured from AISI 304 stainless steel with a satin finish. AISI 304 is suitable for standard interior and exterior installations.

About Wire Rope Systems

A wire rope system is a stainless-steel cable infill for balustrades, where horizontal tensioned ropes run between railing posts to form a lightweight, open barrier. The thin cables maintain visibility and airflow while providing fall protection on balconies, terraces, decks and staircases.

Strofix supplies all components for wire rope balustrades: a Ø4 mm stainless-steel rope in AISI 316 (available in 25 m and 50 m lengths), rope holders that clamp the cable to the post, rope crossbar holders, rope bar holders, and railing terminals that anchor the cable end at the first and last post.

The holders and terminals are supplied in AISI 304 stainless steel with a satin finish, designed for Ø42.4 mm round pipe posts and flat surfaces. The correct component selection depends on post type, the number of cable runs and the total railing length.
