The Strofix D50 colour glass adaptor with inner thread is a stainless-steel point fixing used to mount 8–21.52 mm glass panels to flat surfaces in balustrades, façades, and architectural glazing, with an internally threaded spacer that allows fine on-site adjustment of the glass offset and a decorative colour finish that matches specific colour schemes. Supplied in AISI 304 with a fixed 32 mm spacer, an M10 screw, a Ø50 mm flat cover, and a selectable colour finish: matte black (RAL 9005 MAT), anthracite grey (RAL 7016), white (RAL 9003), gold satin (PVD), or gold polished (PVD).

The 32 mm spacer carries an M10 internal thread, so the screw engages the spacer directly rather than passing through it. The installer can rotate the fixing to fine-tune the standoff distance on site — listed as "slightly adjustable" — which is useful for aligning multiple panels along a run or compensating for substrate irregularities. Two coating technologies are used across the range: the matte black, anthracite grey, and white options are powder-coated to RAL standards; the gold satin and gold polished options use PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating — a thin, hard metallic layer deposited under vacuum. Each adaptor secures the glass through a single Ø18 mm pre-drilled hole and is clamped by an M10 stainless-steel screw. The wide 8–21.52 mm glass range covers standard toughened glass and thicker structural laminated buildups. AISI 304 is the standard chromium-nickel stainless steel and provides reliable corrosion resistance for indoor installations and standard protected outdoor environments.

Use cases:

  • Balustrades on standard wall construction where hardware must match a black, anthracite, white, or gold colour scheme
  • Commercial glass partitions in offices, retail, and hospitality spaces with coordinated metal finishes
  • Architectural glazing in hotels, restaurants, and public buildings where colour-matched fixings with on-site adjustability are specified
  • Heavy-duty balustrades with thick laminated glass up to 21.52 mm in colour-coordinated interiors
  • Glass façades and curtain wall panels requiring precise panel alignment along a run
  • Stair side glazing and mezzanine edge protection in coordinated colour palettes

FAQ:

What glass thickness does this adaptor support?

The D50 colour inner-thread adaptor is suitable for glass panels from 8 mm to 21.52 mm thick, covering standard toughened glass and thicker structural laminated glass buildups commonly used in balustrades, façades, and canopies.

Which colour finishes are available?

Five options are selectable: matte black (RAL 9005 MAT powder coat), anthracite grey (RAL 7016 powder coat), white (RAL 9003 powder coat), gold satin (PVD), and gold polished (PVD). The powder-coated finishes provide a durable painted surface; the PVD finishes provide a hard, wear-resistant metallic layer with a lustrous appearance.

What does the inner thread enable?

The 32 mm spacer has an M10 internal thread that engages the screw directly. The installer can rotate the fixing to fine-tune the standoff distance on site — listed as "slightly adjustable". This is useful for aligning multiple panels precisely along a run or compensating for small substrate irregularities, without needing to stock multiple fixed-spacer variants.

How does this differ from the D50 colour adaptor without inner thread?

The non-threaded D50 colour SKU has a fixed 10 mm spacer with a Ø19 mm glass hole that passes the screw straight through. This SKU has a deeper 32 mm threaded spacer with a Ø18 mm hole and adds on-site adjustability. Choose this SKU when a 32 mm standoff and fine alignment adjustment are needed; choose the non-threaded version for a short 10 mm offset.

What size hole must be drilled in the glass?

A minimum Ø18 mm hole is required for the M10 screw. The hole must be pre-drilled by the glass supplier before tempering — toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled after heat treatment.

Can I install it myself?

Yes, with basic tools: a drill with the correct bit for your wall material, a torque wrench, an M10-rated wall anchor matched to the substrate, and pre-drilled glass. Once the wall anchor is set, the threaded spacer can be rotated to fine-tune the standoff before tightening. Handle the coated components with care to avoid scratching the finish. Thick laminated glass panels should be handled with two people.

About painted glass adaptors

A painted glass adaptor is a colour-coated stainless-steel point fixing that attaches a glass panel to a supporting structure while matching a specific architectural colour scheme. The paint layer is applied over stainless steel, retaining the base metal's corrosion resistance while replacing the standard metallic appearance with a decorative finish.

Strofix supplies painted glass adaptors in two diameters — D30 and D50 — with spacer heights of 10, 15 and 32 mm. Available colours include matte black, anthracite, white, gold polished, gold satin, copper polished and dark chrome polished; the D50 range also includes a variant with an inner thread.

The right variant depends on the required colour, adaptor diameter, spacer height and whether an inner-thread connection is needed.
