The Strofix glass railing system For stairs - Flat is a complete end (ending) railing post for stairs, supplied with 2 glass clamps for holding the glass. It has a 40 × 40 × 2 mm post standing H=960 mm on a 108 × 108 mm base, and is made for stair (inclined) installation. Available in AISI 304 or AISI 316 grade with a satin finish.

This is the end configuration for a staircase: the post stands at the start or finish of a stair run and carries 2 glass clamps to hold the end of a single glass panel, so the glass balustrade follows the pitch of the stairs. The "Flat" designation is the 40 × 40 profile version; a "42.4" version with the round Ø42.4 mm tube is also available, and middle and corner posts complete the run. AISI 304 suits interior and standard exterior installations; AISI 316 contains added molybdenum for higher resistance to chlorides and salt air, making it the choice for coastal and high-humidity environments. It is a finished post system from the Strofix For Glass railing range, made for stairs rather than flat surfaces.

Use cases:

  • End post for a glass balustrade on a staircase
  • Start or finish of a stair glass railing run
  • Residential and commercial stair balustrades
  • 40 × 40 profile glass railing on stairs
  • Coastal and poolside stair railings (AISI 316 recommended)

FAQ

What is included?

The system is an end (ending) stair railing post supplied with 2 glass clamps for securing the glass.

Why does it have 2 glass clamps instead of 4?

An end post supports one glass panel, so it uses 2 clamps; middle and corner posts sit between two panels and use 4.

What surface is it for?

It is made for stairs — an inclined, stepped run. A separate For a flat surface version is available for level ground.

What are the post dimensions?

The post is 40 × 40 × 2 mm, H=960 mm, on a 108 × 108 mm base.

What is the difference between AISI 304 and AISI 316?

AISI 316 contains added molybdenum for higher resistance to chlorides and salt air. Choose AISI 316 for coastal, pool, and high-humidity installations; AISI 304 is sufficient for interiors and standard outdoor conditions.

About Glass Railing Posts

A glass railing post is a stainless-steel vertical upright designed to hold glass panels as the infill of a balustrade, creating a transparent barrier on balconies, terraces, mezzanines and staircases. The glass is secured to the post either by integrated glass adaptors (through-bolt point fixings drilled into the glass) or by glass clamps, and a handrail sits on top to complete the system.

Strofix supplies glass railing post systems in flat (40×40 mm) and round (Ø42.4 mm) post profiles, for flat-surface and stair installations, all in AISI 304 or AISI 316 stainless steel with a satin finish.

Multiple system variants are available within each profile and surface combination, differing in glass-adaptor arrangement and the number of fixing points per post. The correct system depends on post profile, installation surface, glass fixing method and the panel size and weight to be supported.
