The Strofix glass clamp 55×65 mm flat with support is a stainless-steel glass panel holder designed for thick glass panels. The clamp mounts on flat surfaces such as walls, square posts, and flat-sided structural members, and holds glass panels from 12 to 17.52 mm thick. The distance between the mounting surface and the glass panel is 20 mm. Available in AISI 304 or AISI 316 with a satin finish. Includes support. Attached by screwing (elements for screwing included).

The 55 × 65 mm body is the second-largest flat-mount glass clamp in the Strofix range after the 60 × 70 mm, purpose-built for heavy laminated safety glass panels used in commercial glass balustrades. The glass thickness options include 12 mm single tempered glass and three laminated safety glass configurations: 13.52 mm, 16.76 mm (88.2 designation, 8+8+0.76 PVB), and 17.52 mm. Glass this thick is normally specified by a structural engineer for the specific project. The glass range starts at 12 mm, where the smaller clamps (up to 12.76 mm) end. AISI 304 is suitable for standard installations; AISI 316 provides higher chloride resistance for coastal or exposed environments.

The clamp accepts glass from 12 to 17.52 mm: 12 mm single tempered glass and laminated safety glass in 13.52, 16.76, and 17.52 mm. The 16.76 mm option corresponds to laminated designation 88.2 (8+8+0.76 PVB interlayer). Only the 60 × 70 mm clamp takes thicker glass (up to 21.52 mm).

How does this compare to the other flat clamps?

The 45 × 45 handles 6–10.76 mm. The 45 × 63 and 52 × 52 handle up to 12.76 mm. This 55 × 65 starts at 12 mm and extends to 17.52 mm – it is designed exclusively for thick glass that the smaller clamps cannot accommodate. There is a small overlap at 12 mm only.

What is the 88.2 laminated glass designation?

88.2 refers to laminated glass composed of two 8 mm glass panes bonded with a 0.76 mm PVB interlayer, producing a total thickness of 16.76 mm. It is a common build-up for glass balustrades with thick glass.

About Glass Clamps for Flat Surfaces

A glass clamp for a flat surface is a stainless-steel bracket that grips a glass panel along its edge without requiring a drilled hole, fixing the panel to a wall, post or flat-sided structure by clamping pressure alone. Two halves tighten around the glass with rubber inserts that cushion the contact and accommodate different panel thicknesses.
