The Strofix D30 glass adaptor is a stainless-steel point fixing used to mount 6–12.76 mm glass panels to flat surfaces in balustrades, façades, and partitions. Available in AISI 304 or AISI 316 grade with four fixed spacer heights (15, 32, 42, or 52 mm) and a satin finish.

Each adaptor secures the glass through a single Ø14 mm pre-drilled hole and is tightened with an M8 × 40 mm stainless-steel screw. The Ø30 mm cover provides a low-profile appearance while distributing load evenly across the contact point. AISI 304 suits interior and standard exterior installations; AISI 316 contains added molybdenum for higher resistance to chlorides and salt air, making it the correct choice for coastal and high-humidity environments.

The satin finish reduces visible fingerprints and micro-scratches compared to polished stainless steel, making it a common choice for commercial railings and architectural glazing where a clean, understated look is required.

Use cases:

  • Residential balcony and staircase balustrades with toughened or laminated glass
  • Commercial glass façades and curtain wall panels
  • Glass partition walls in offices, retail, and hospitality spaces
  • Pool fencing and seafront balconies (AISI 316 recommended)
  • Glass canopies, entrance awnings, and shower enclosures
  • Stair side glazing and mezzanine edge protection

FAQ:

What glass thickness does this adaptor support?

The D30 glass adaptor is suitable for glass panels from 6 mm to 12.76 mm thick, covering standard toughened glass and common laminated glass buildups.

What size hole must be drilled in the glass?

A minimum Ø14 mm hole is required for the M8 through-screw. The hole must be pre-drilled by the glass supplier before tempering — toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled after heat treatment.

What is the difference between AISI 304 and AISI 316?

AISI 316 contains molybdenum, which provides higher resistance to chlorides and salt air. Specify AISI 316 for coastal, pool, and high-humidity installations. AISI 304 is sufficient for interior use and standard outdoor conditions inland.

Which spacer height should I choose?

The spacer sets the distance between the mounting wall and the glass panel. Choose 15 mm for minimal offset, 32 or 42 mm for standard wall construction, and 52 mm where additional clearance is needed for insulation or finish layers. The spacer is not adjustable after installation — select the correct variant at order time.

What type of surface can this adaptor be mounted on?

The D30 adaptor is designed for flat surfaces only (mounting surface type: Flat). It is suitable for concrete, brick, or solid walls with appropriate wall anchors, which must be selected separately to match the substrate. For curved surfaces, posts, or angled mounts, a different Strofix adaptor variant is required.

Can I install it myself?

Yes, with basic tools: a drill with the correct bit for your wall material, a torque wrench, and pre-drilled glass. Handle glass panels with two people and follow the glass supplier's recommended torque to avoid cracking.

About glass adaptors

A glass adaptor is a stainless-steel point fixing that attaches a glass panel to a supporting structure through a drilled hole in the glass. It transfers load from the panel to the substrate while keeping visible hardware to a minimum, leaving the glass as the main visual element in balustrades, façades, partitions, canopies, and shower enclosures.

Strofix supplies round glass adaptors from Ø12 mm up to Ø70 mm (including D30, D38, D40, D50, D60 and D70) plus square 38×38 and 40×40 versions, in AISI 201, AISI 304 and AISI 316 stainless steel, with satin, polished or painted finishes and a broad range of spacer heights. The right adaptor depends on glass thickness, wall-to-glass offset, environment and the type of supporting surface.

Glass adaptors are essential components used to securely connect glass panels to supporting structures while maintaining a clean, modern appearance. They are widely applied in glass railings, partitions, façades, canopies, and other architectural systems where both stability and design matter. By creating a reliable fixing point between glass and metal or wall-mounted surfaces, glass adaptors help distribute load evenly and ensure structural safety without compromising transparency.
