Bottom fastening

The Strofix bottom fastening is a heavy-duty stainless-steel base plate for Ø42.4 or Ø48.3 mm railing post tubes. The plate has a Ø100 mm diameter (D), 16 mm thickness (h), and two Ø11 mm bolt holes on a 74 mm pattern (d), for M10 bolts. Available in AISI 304 for both tube sizes, with AISI 316 also available for Ø42.4 only. Supplied with a raw (unfinished) surface. The post tube is attached by welding (elements for welding included).

The 16 mm plate thickness makes this the heaviest-duty base plate for round tubes in the Strofix range, providing maximum rigidity at the post-to-floor connection. The two-bolt M10 configuration is suited for high-load applications where the thicker plate compensates for the reduced bolt count with greater bending resistance. The dual tube size compatibility (Ø42.4 and Ø48.3) covers both standard and heavy-duty Strofix railing post pipes. AISI 304 is suitable for standard installations; AISI 316 (Ø42.4 only) contains molybdenum for higher chloride resistance in coastal, pool, or high-humidity environments.

The raw surface finish is standard for base plates concealed by a decorative cover after installation.

This is the thickest round tube base plate at h = 16 mm. The standard raw-surface plates have h = 4 mm, and the satin-finished plates have h = 6 mm. The 16 mm thickness provides the highest bending resistance and is specified for heavy-load or safety-critical applications.

How is the post tube attached?

The post tube is welded to the base plate using TIG or MIG welding.

About Base & Clamp Fastenings

A base or clamp fastening is a stainless-steel plate or bracket that anchors a railing post to the building structure, forming the structural foundation of the balustrade. Bottom fastenings bolt to the top of a floor slab, deck or beam, while side fastenings bolt to the vertical face of a fascia, edge beam or wall. Assembly clamps grip an existing tube or post without welding, and assembly plates provide a flat mounting surface for auxiliary connections.
